Each spring, the Virginia Tech Geography Department runs a field course in severe weather forecasting on location in the Great Plains. This 3-credit course exposes the students to forecasting methods used in the prediction of severe thunderstorms and tornadoes. The students guide the trip with their own forecasts, and navigate through unfamiliar territory in an attempt to intercept severe and possibly tornadic thunderstorms.
Fact- my undergrad is AWESOME.
