12 Days of December: the 4th

My posts are soon to get less interesting with my vacation coming to an end... I included timezones on these pictures, as tomorrow they will be important...

10:00 am pdt-- woke up and then started working on the puzzle (later in the day I will be called the "puzzle master")

10:34 am pdt-- it's vacation, you can drink before noon on vacation...

12:48 pm pdt-- my friend Casey (from Virginia Tech) and my friend Katie (from the University of Denver) both live in CA and have finally met! And we're going sailing!!

3:24 pm pdt-- someone thought it was smart to let me drive. I actually did pretty awesome until there was a test called "keep the boat still while we pull down the sail" and another called "tie a knot" (that's not related to my driving but it is sailing related)

12 on the 12th of August- student staff training edition

Student staff training is in full swing and as a result provided some great photos for the 12th of August...

5:13 a.m.- really, 5:13 a.m... there was a lost dog on campus yesterday and while we waited for someone to claim him MG provided him a nice home and bed. Everyone (MG, the RAs and myself) all wanted to keep this dog for all of time (there will be a picture of him later); he was the sweetest, cutest dog- of all time. Anyway, 5;13 a.m., up to go to the bathroom (and he peed just a few short minutes before we opened the door to outside, oops!)
6:12 a.m. - driving to campus to get ready for the day, I couldn't complain about the beautiful sunrise as I headed east.
8:44 a.m.- sitting in our first round-table presentation with the UNC Counseling Center, they developed really (emphasis on the "really") great training sessions for our student staff.
9:16 a.m. - walking through Wiebking and I found this awesome door decoration!
11:48 a.m.- headed to lunch. I was hoping for a Beatles style cross-walk photo... instead I got Alex and Lauren to pose :)
3:20 p.m.- we're about halfway through Behind Closed Doors- Mental Health scenarios training in Wiebking, I happened upon this great welcome sign. I am loving the creativity!
5:19 p.m.- I took a couple of RAs with me as I zipped across town to pick up Horace (or Franklin, Carl, Bert, Buzz, Copper... all depending on who you ask) because his owner has called to tell me she wants him back. I'm hoping and wishing that this won't actually be her dog... He will end up being hers, and he'll end up being called Dopey (stupid, I know).
6:57 p.m. - Dopey is getting some love (and helping staff de-stress) at our staff BBQ in the park. Great, great way to end a long day of mental health scenarios and conversations.
7:34 p.m. - sunset after the BBQ. Quite lovely if you ask me.
9:25 p.m. - I've just woken up from an accidental nap and put on my cute-green-shoes to head to MG's gig at Crabtree Brewery
10:40 p.m. - MG's about to go on stage, I'm lurking in the back. I happened upon this awesome sign...
11:19 p.m. - MG is still on stage and the crowd is loving him. Lots of dancing and excitement.

And thus concludes a very long day on August 12!

July 12th- 12 photos from the day!

I'm just going to jump right in, no introduction...

8:14 a.m.- after breakfast with my mom, I have her a tour of my new building. This was taken on the 6th floor, facing South.
9:16 a.m.- while waiting for some co-workers to walk to a training, I find an ad for a car I want, except that further research informed me that this is not my future car.

9:27 a.m.- minutes before the most painful training session of HD training started... it was a session on using Blackboard... not for millenials.

11:21 a.m.- now I'm preparing for the session I am presenting with Jamie on RA Training. All our hard work from the year will soon be on display.

12:09 p.m.- breakfast for lunch... I have spent the day eating. Breakfast with my mom, breakfast burrito before my 930 session and now lunch... yuck.

4:21 p.m.- headed to the store to pick up a rx, I realized I had forgotten to take pictures for most of the afternoon so I snagged the photo of my bag.

6:30 p.m.- trying to get my iPad to load my calender correctly, it wouldn't refresh. So I deleted the account and readded it, this photo also served as a way for me to remember the server.

8:02 p.m.- Concert Under The Stars at the Garden Theatre, this week it was salsa music.

8:15 p.m.- the sky looks a little scary, there are severe thunderstorm warnings, yikes.

8:44 p.m.- I met MPG at Starbucks to do some reading; my barista asked if I wanted another shot of expresso after I gave him my order since I had used every other box, I declined. Even through there were weather warnings we decided to sit outside for a little while, it was actually quite comfortable until the sky started dripping on us.

9:07 p.m.- moved inside to a table, I'm working on reading the common book for UNC this year, it's pretty interesting so far and I finished the night 30 pages from where he'll start talking about 4/16.

9:42 p.m.- we've now moved to some comfy chairs, originally I had taken a photo from behind my book of MPG with his headphones on and playing on his macbook; but I decided that the photo of the street address being shadowed onto the wall looked neated (and was less creepy).

12 on the 12th - June 2011

It should first be noted that I have managed to keep my "blog all 12 on the 12th" new year's resolution for now half of the year, pretty exciting if you ask me!

Today, I had an adventure in Denver making new friends and visiting with old ones.

Enjoy!

8:57 a.m.-- Headed South on I-25 to go to a painting class that I thought was at 10 a.m., it wasn't until I got to Denver that I learned that my Canvas and Cocktails class was at 2 p.m.
10:17 a.m.-- Once I found out my class wasn't until later, I contacted Brent to see what he was up to, he was headed to brunch with his friend Ethan and they said I could join them. Ethan picked a nice little brunch place called The Local (which I can't find the website for, it was on the menu but I didn't pay attention).11:45 a.m.-- After bunch, we stopped by Ethan's to see his chicks, they were pretty adorable and we were all pretty captivated watching them.
12:29 p.m.-- After about 45 minutes, I told Brent we should probably leave the chicks. One last photo so you can see how cute they are.
1:28 p.m.-- Before this I stopped at REI to order/buy the new bike I want but I got nervous I couldn't make it back to get Liz and go to our painting class; so instead I left REI and went to get Liz. While I was waiting for her I noticed this tandem bicycle, it made my think of tandem kayaking, which I'm pretty sure is the fastest way to a divorce- not sure what a tandem bike leads to...
1:53 p.m.-- Before getting started with my painting! I was so excited!
2:48 p.m.-- We're just getting started, green background: check. 3:17 p.m.-- Here is Liz, hard at work on her bicycle!3:33 p.m.-- Liz snagged this photo of me, I'm hard at work painting my spokes!

4:02 p.m.-- Done! And looking pretty great!4:50 p.m.-- Back at REI, trying to buy this bicycle. They didn't have it in my size, but Boulder has the smallest size that Surly makes, so I'm going to visit there on Tuesday to see how it fits.

5:25 p.m.-- Headed home via I-25, I actually don't like driving to and from Denver this way, and this picture is way (traffic); thankfully the traffic didn't last long.

12 photos from the 12th of May!

5:46 a.m.-- no kidding, 5:46 a.m.... I woke up unreasonably early to the sound of rain outside my window. (please excuse the lines from the screen)
7:01 a.m.-- my phone and coffee pot are disagreeing about the time in this photo. I am not a regular morning coffee drinker. I have a theory about caffeine and my stomach so I typically drink decaf; this morning after my early wake up I decided that caffeine was in order.

10:07 a.m.-- walking into North to help Marianne with pre-conference checks; really I was going to learn how to do them.

11:11 a.m.-- aside from being one of my favorite times of day, this was after I brought some boxes to put into my new office.

11:22 a.m.-- Jamie and I are headed to Wiebking to then go to TK with our closing paperwork. The weather outside was delightful, I love rain.

12:00 p.m.-- in the UC for lunch; you can tell it's summer because there is no one here!

1:30 p.m.-- Jamie and I are leaving Best Buy after an unsuccessful trip to pick up a screen protector for my future iPad (it's been ordered, still waiting for it to arrive). Jamie is modeling her new hat which was purchased at the bookstore; Barnes and Noble is going out of business on campus so many items are 50% off!

2:33 p.m.-- my glamorous life of entering the paint audit into excel; actually, I love excel (nerd alert)

4:04 p.m.-- The picture says I'm on the phone with Erin, but really I'm on the phone with Jamie; we're conference calling about the Training Schedule (so excited!) and soon I'll start sharing my screen via Wimba so she can see how I'm editing it.

6:04 p.m.-- I am quite pleased that I managed to take a photo exactly 2 hours after the last picture. MPG and I decided on soup & rolls for dinner; this is while we're trying to make out final selection, we left with chicken and vegetables (basically chicken noodle with better noodles).

7:18 p.m.-- after dinner coffee at Starbucks; where questions like "what does your favorite color smell like?" were posed and answered.

8:26 p.m.-- after we realized we had missed all the movie times, we stopped by Red Box to rent Due Date. Super, super funny; highly recommend.
